Today we match up with Serbia...Team USA is ready! The Roomies Uber over to the stadium. Uber is the preferred method of travel here in RIO, the drivers are great and the phone app is beyond efficient-it tells you the name of your driver, the license plate number of the car, the time of arrival of your driver.
Oh let me back up a bit-so we meet a woman from homeland security yesterday at the P & G house, she tells us there are over 1000 undercover agents working in RIO, apparently we are not safe anywhere, she tells us not to have your cell phone out in public, she tells us not to resist the muggers, she tells us we are not safe outside the stadium, in the streets, in Ubers, taxis, or the favelas too late lady been there done that and according to her we are lucky to be alive. oh, I should probably post that.
Today is a light traffic day and we make it to the stadium in 38 minutes-WPXI is waiting outside of Gate C to interview Rob and I. We make our way into the stadium, again, the atmosphere is so great! Team USA is ready!
Before game time today, I meet Karen Zando. Karen Zando was the chaplain in the Olympic Village in 2012 and met Christa in London. She explains that she was so moved by Christa's testimony that year and has been following her blog and story since. Karen so happens to be from Pittsburgh, she is with Athletes in Action and started with Campus Crusade. She is currently serving in Orlando with a professional women's soccer team. It was so great to meet her and I am looking forward to getting together with her when she returns to Pittsburgh.
After our win we enjoy some family time with our athletes!
Good Night from RIO~Connie
